"This is Our Story" Book by Annette Barber Now Available

This is Our Story

This is Our Story is the newly published book by the Crowley County Heritage Center. Compiled by Annette Barber, This is Our Story is an anthology of oral stories and histories told from multiple perspectives by multiple oral storytellers. Written by and about the people of Crowley County, Colorado, from its boom years after the building of the Colorado Canal in the late 1800s, to its bust in the late 1970s due to the sale of water rights to Aurora and Colorado Springs.

This is Our Story preserves a favored time from our past and also speaks to the resilience of those who have remained. The settling of our Colorado prairie often came with great cost. These oral histories have been gathered through interviews, past and present, manuscripts written by the people of the community, past and present, and through research in the archives situated in the Crowley
County Heritage Center.

To obtain your copy, contact the Heritage Center by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact Annette Barber at 719-469-7874.
You may also pick up a copy at the First National Bank in Ordway or the Coffee Shop in Crowley.
