"This is Our Story" Book by Annette Barber Now Available

This is Our Story is the newly published book by the Crowley County Heritage Center. Compiled by Annette Barber, This is Our Story is an anthology of oral stories and histories told from multiple perspectives by multiple oral storytellers. Written by and about the people of Crowley County, Colorado, from its boom years after the building of the Colorado Canal in the late 1800s, to its bust in the late 1970s due to the sale of water rights to Aurora and Colorado Springs.
This is Our Story preserves a favored time from our past and also speaks to the resilience of those who have remained. The settling of our Colorado prairie often came with great cost. These oral histories have been gathered through interviews, past and present, manuscripts written by the people of the community, past and present, and through research in the archives situated in the Crowley
County Heritage Center.

Crowley County History Books
A "Special Edition" history book commemorating the Centennial of Crowley County is available. The book contains the history of the county beginning in the late 1890's. The book is divided into chapters on the early days of the area; our farming, industries, ranching, towns, churches, and schools; and the history of how and when we became Crowley County and what we are in 2011. There are 320 historical pictures in the book, each with its own history.
The Sugar City history book is a collaboration of the Sugar City Book Committee (Joyce Manweiler, Imogene Bauer, Myrtle Kaufman, and Loie Norris). The group worked to compile the history of Sugar City, CO, which first appeared in print in 1982.
